ITS Communications
ITS Communications has two goals:
Within ITS:
- Recognize individual and team achievements
- Share updates and opportunities
- Promote digital accessibility
- Help maintain a sense of departmental community/camaraderie
- Build employee morale and interdepartmental rapport
- Highlight collaboration
For the UNC-Chapel Hill community:
- Showcase ITS achievements
- Communicate changes or new technologies
- Promote ITS services and tools
- Announce events, personnel changes, events
- Demonstrate ITS’ value, showing we are good stewards of UNC resources in supporting the University mission and strategic plan
- Empower teaching, learning and work
ITS Communications provides these services to ITS:
Writing, messaging and consultation:
- Writing, editing and content review
- Communication-related consultation and guidance
- Service marketing and awareness
- Major incident and crisis communications
- Media contact, referrals and collaboration with other UNC communicators
- Fostering the ITS Communications Liaisons group
- Amplification of ITS messaging to other UNC outlets, such as Mass Mail, WorkWell and The Well
Design:
- Graphic design for print and digital projects, including digital signage and physical swag
- Headshot and limited event photography
- Publishing and maintenance of main ITS website and ITS Commons
- Maintenance and evolution of the ITS brand
ITS maintains several communications outlets:
- ITS News: main communication outlet for ITS to the greater UNC community. ITS News articles are featured on the ITS homepage.
- Monday Morning News: ITS staff newsletter.
- Quarterly Review: high-level look at ITS achievements for campus leaders (recaps content from Monday Morning News and ITS News)
- ITS Twitter
- ITS Instagram
- ITS Threads
- Flickr
How to work with Comms:
- Contact Kelly Johnson for all comms requests, including facilitating an article in The Well or the Daily Tar Heel
- Refer media (both UNC and external) inquiries to Kate Hash
- Lead time varies per project; please give as much notice as possible
